Any jewelry should be removed prior to swimming, doing household cleaning or applying beauty products.
A chemical reaction between metal or stone and external agents such as sulfurous water, chlorine, moisture, perspiration, perfumes, lotions, hair spray, deodorant, detergent, abrasive cleaners, can cause deterioration of the jewelry and can erode the finish and polish of gems and pearls, leaving them dull.
Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth or a mild dish soap with a soft brush to clean your gold plated, rhodium plated or oxidized silver pieces. Rinse thoroughly and let your jewelry air dry. Avoid wiping with a tissue paper or paper towel as they can cause scratches.
Do not use silver cleaner or polishing cloth as it will remove a plating or oxidation. Excessive cleaning can remove a plating/oxidation too.
Ideally, store your jewelry in a soft lined box or pouch and try to keep pieces apart, so they don’t rub together or tangle up.
